1. Purpose and scope
This Intellectual Property Policy explains how Fenkil Technologies LTD, the operator of cohero, handles rights in user content and complaints about infringement on the platform. It applies to dream descriptions, milestone proof, photographs, video, profile material, updates and messages, whether submitted by a Dreamer or a Backer. It also explains how to challenge a removal and the limits of our role in resolving ownership disputes.
Read this policy with the Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Dreamer Rules, Privacy Policy and Trust & Safety. Intellectual property rights may arise automatically and may exist even if a work has no registration, watermark or copyright symbol. The absence of an express restriction, or the fact that material can be downloaded, does not establish permission to republish it.
Our complaint process is designed to identify specific material and allow proportionate action on credible information. We are not a court, cannot conclusively adjudicate ownership or contractual disputes, and do not provide legal advice to either side. Applicable law may require a different procedure or confer rights that cannot be limited by this policy; seek independent advice when a dispute has significant legal consequences.
For this policy, content means material you submit through the platform, including material used to demonstrate a milestone. A rights holder is a person or entity entitled to assert the relevant right, and an authorised representative must have authority to act for that holder. A person’s financial support for a dream does not by itself make them a rights holder in that dream or its resulting work.
2. Ownership of your content
As between you and Fenkil Technologies LTD, you retain ownership of intellectual property rights you hold in your original content. Posting a dream or submitting proof does not transfer copyright to the platform or make that material public property. This statement does not give you rights in material owned by someone else, and you remain responsible for obtaining any necessary permission before including it.
A backing is a voluntary, unconditional gift of support, not an investment, purchase, loan or acquisition of rights. Backers receive no ownership, profit share, repayment, interest or rewards, and a Dreamer has no obligation to deliver rewards. A thank-you message, update or opportunity to view progress does not grant the Backer a licence to commercially exploit the Dreamer’s images, writing, designs or other work.
Funding an artistic or business milestone does not give a Backer control over the Dreamer’s creative choices or a right to demand delivery of source files. Conversely, a Dreamer cannot imply that a backing buys intellectual property or an exclusive product when the platform provides gifts rather than sales. Any separate arrangement must not be used to misrepresent a backing or bypass applicable platform rules.
Ownership may be shared or limited by agreements with collaborators, employers, photographers or other contributors. Before publishing, determine who owns the relevant rights and whether your intended use is permitted, including use in milestone proof and updates. If a dispute arises among collaborators, we may restrict access to disputed material while requesting clarification, without determining their final contractual entitlements.
3. The licence you grant to the platform
When you submit content, you grant Fenkil Technologies LTD a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, technically process, format and display that content as reasonably needed to operate cohero and provide its features. This includes showing a published dream in the feed, displaying updates to the appropriate audience and making milestone proof available for review. You retain your rights and may use your own content elsewhere subject to any obligations you independently owe.
The licence permits necessary technical operations such as resizing an image, generating a preview, encoding media, transmitting content and maintaining service copies. It also permits use by our hosting provider and other service providers acting for us only as needed to deliver these functions under appropriate obligations. It does not give another user an unrestricted right to copy your work or imply that we own it.
The scope of display follows the function for which you submit the material and the relevant access settings. Private draft content is not licensed for publication in the swipe feed merely because it is stored, and milestone proof should be used for its review and associated platform administration rather than unrelated publicity. We do not treat this operational licence as permission to sell your work or use your identity in unrelated advertising.
The licence lasts while needed to provide the service for the content and to perform permitted retention, safety and legal functions. Removal from active display may not immediately remove all service copies, records or copies lawfully received by another person. Any retention and deletion must follow the Privacy Policy and applicable law; this licence is not a promise to keep personal data indefinitely.
You confirm that you have sufficient rights to grant this licence and that the permissions you rely on cover the actual submission. If a third-party licence limits display, adaptation, duration or onward processing, check whether those limits are compatible before uploading. Tell us promptly if a relevant permission is revoked or expires so that we can assess whether content must be changed or removed.
4. Our name, logo and platform materials
The cohero name and logo, and other marks used to identify the platform, belong to Fenkil Technologies LTD or the relevant rights holders. Access to the service does not grant a general licence to use these marks or our proprietary interface materials. Rights in user submissions remain separate from rights in the platform’s own design, text and other protected elements.
You may refer truthfully to your participation on cohero, provided the context does not imply endorsement, employment, partnership or approval that does not exist. Do not use our name or logo to imitate an official account, issue supposed verification certificates or make another service appear to be operated by us. A dream’s approval is not permission to represent yourself as our agent or spokesperson.
Do not alter our logo to suggest an official safety rating, incorporate our marks into a misleading account identity or use them to support an off-platform payment request. A Backer or Dreamer may not claim that we guarantee their identity, their intellectual property ownership or their project’s outcome. Contact hello@coheroapp.com before a proposed use that could reasonably be understood as an official affiliation.
This policy does not prohibit lawful commentary, criticism, identification or other uses protected by applicable law. Whether a use is lawful depends on its context, not simply whether a mark appears in it. We assess complaints about our marks with the same attention to context and do not treat every reference to the platform as infringement.
5. Respecting the rights of others
Only upload material you created, material you have permission to use, or material covered by a lawful exception that applies to your use. Permission to view, buy or receive a file does not necessarily include permission to publish it on a fundraising profile or submit it as your own proof. Giving credit is important where required but is not a substitute for obtaining a licence.
Rights can overlap within one submission. A photograph may involve a photographer’s copyright, a subject’s privacy or image rights, a visible artwork and a third party’s trademark. You must assess each relevant permission rather than assuming that consent from the person depicted resolves all rights in the image.
- Do not copy another person’s dream text, portfolio, artwork or proof and present it as your own achievement.
- Do not remove a watermark or credit to conceal ownership or falsely imply that a licensed example is your original work.
- Check stock, template and open-licence terms for commercial use, attribution, modification and redistribution restrictions.
- Do not upload confidential designs, private correspondence or employer materials merely because you have access to them.
- Use quotations and references only to the extent justified by applicable law and the context of the dream.
Exceptions such as quotation, criticism, reporting or other permitted uses vary by jurisdiction and are not established by a disclaimer alone. A short extract can still be protected, and a non-commercial motive does not automatically make a use lawful. If you rely on an exception in responding to a complaint, explain the specific purpose and context rather than asserting that everything online is free to use.
6. Submitting a copyright notice
If you own copyright or are authorised to act for its owner and believe material on cohero infringes that right, send a notice to hello@coheroapp.com. Use a clear subject identifying a copyright complaint and describe the particular material rather than requesting a general review of an entire account. You do not need to publish your complaint or contact the uploader privately before notifying us.
An actionable notice must contain enough reliable information to identify the rights, locate the challenged material and understand your authority. Include the items below; if a legally required element is missing or unclear, we may request supplementation before taking action. Do not include passwords, full financial credentials or unrelated sensitive documents.
- Your full name and reliable contact information, including an email address, and the name of the rights holder if you represent someone else.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed, or a representative list if the notice covers multiple works.
- The exact location of each allegedly infringing item on the platform, such as a dream link, account reference, message context or milestone identifier.
- An explanation of which protected material was copied and how the challenged use relates to the original work, with supporting references where available.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the challenged use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner; include any declaration under penalty of perjury required by applicable law.
- Your physical or electronic signature, which may be a typed name intended as a signature, and the date of the notice.
If the original work is not publicly accessible, describe it sufficiently and supply a suitable limited sample or other evidence of your rights. Registration information can be helpful where it exists, but do not invent registration details or assume registration is always required to own copyright. Explain any chain of authority if the complaint is made by a licensee, agency or other representative.
A notice is a legal assertion, not a general customer service complaint. Consider whether a licence, permission or statutory exception may cover the use before signing a declaration. If your concern is instead misleading milestone proof, harassment or unauthorised disclosure of private information, explain that separately so that we can also assess it under the appropriate safety or privacy rules.
7. Trademark and impersonation complaints
If a name, logo or other sign on the platform is used in a way you believe infringes your trademark rights, contact hello@coheroapp.com. Identify the mark, the rights holder, the goods or services it identifies and the territory in which rights are claimed. Include registration details where relevant or explain the basis of any unregistered rights rather than assuming all uses of a word are reserved to you.
Provide your contact details, authority to act, a signature and precise links or identifiers for the challenged material. Explain why the use is likely to confuse people about source, sponsorship, affiliation or approval, and include relevant examples of that confusion if available. State that the information is accurate and that you have a good-faith belief the use infringes the rights you identify.
A reference to a business, a photograph containing a logo or a critical discussion of a product is not automatically trademark infringement. Descriptive, referential, comparative and other lawful uses require contextual assessment. We may ask for more information and may decline a demand that does not identify an enforceable right or a plausible conflicting use.
Impersonation may violate our rules even if no trademark registration exists. Identify the person or organisation being imitated, the misleading statements and any immediate risk to users, particularly requests for off-platform payments or account credentials. A safety response to impersonation is separate from a final legal determination of trademark ownership.
8. Review, restrictions and removal timelines
We review notices for sufficient detail, apparent authority and the connection between the asserted right and the identified material. We may seek clarification, consider information already available or request a response from the uploader. We may restrict or remove access where a notice is sufficiently supported, where the risk warrants interim protection, or where applicable law requires action.
We aim to act without unnecessary delay, but there is no universal acknowledgement or removal deadline under this policy. Timing depends on completeness, urgency, the number of items, the complexity of the dispute and applicable legal requirements. If legislation or a binding order imposes a specific deadline, that obligation governs; we do not imply that every jurisdiction uses the same notice procedure.
Where appropriate, we inform the affected user of the material restricted, the general basis for action and how to respond. We may share the substance of the complaint and information reasonably needed to assess it, subject to privacy, safety and legal limits. We do not promise anonymous processing or disclose unrelated account records to either party.
A restriction can apply to an individual image, proof item, dream or account depending on the scope and seriousness of the issue. We may preserve relevant records lawfully without continuing public display. Removal is not a finding of liability, an award of damages or proof that every statement in the notice is true; decisions can change as evidence develops.
An intellectual property report does not itself cancel a backing, reverse a direct payment or pause the milestone review window. Because cohero does not hold, transfer or escrow money, cohero cannot reverse payments or issue refunds. Any refund, dispute or chargeback remains strictly between the Backer, the Dreamer and their chosen payment provider, though administrators may hide or remove dreams or suspend accounts for violations; contact support promptly if a content restriction affects your ability to review proof.
9. Responding to a removal and counter-notices
If you believe your material was removed or restricted because of a mistake or misidentification, contact hello@coheroapp.com and identify the removal decision. Explain whether you created the material, hold a licence, have permission or rely on a lawful exception, and provide specific supporting information. Do not simply re-upload the same disputed item or create another account to evade the restriction.
For a formal copyright counter-notice, include the elements required by the law governing that procedure. At a minimum, provide the information below so we can identify the dispute and evaluate the request. A general appeal may be available even when a formal statutory counter-notice procedure is not applicable.
- Your name, reliable contact details and physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material removed or disabled and the location where it appeared before the restriction.
- A clear explanation of why you believe removal resulted from mistake or misidentification, with any relevant permission or ownership evidence.
- A good-faith statement of that belief and any statement under penalty of perjury required by applicable law.
- Any legally required consent to the jurisdiction of the competent court and acceptance of service from the original claimant or its authorised agent.
We will identify any additional formal declarations required for an applicable statutory process rather than assume one country’s wording applies everywhere. If you are unsure what legal jurisdiction or service obligations you would accept, obtain independent advice before submitting. A formal counter-notice may permit the claimant to pursue legal proceedings against you and is not merely a request for customer support.
We may forward a counter-notice, including the contact information and declarations needed for the process, to the original claimant. Do not submit it on the assumption that it will remain confidential. If disclosure presents a credible safety risk, tell us before submission so we can explain available options, without promising that mandatory procedural information can be withheld.
10. Restoration, appeals and unresolved disputes
Where a valid counter-notice procedure applies, restoration follows the relevant statutory waiting period and conditions, including any opportunity for the claimant to show that proceedings have been initiated. We do not promise a single restoration period across jurisdictions. We may request information to establish whether a reported legal action actually concerns the identified material.
Outside a mandatory procedure, we consider restoration when the claimant withdraws the complaint, sufficient permission is demonstrated, the identified material does not match the claim or other reliable information resolves the basis for restriction. We may ask either party for a focused explanation rather than accept an unsupported assertion of ownership. A claimant’s silence does not automatically establish that a use is lawful.
Restoration is not guaranteed if another policy violation independently justifies restriction. For example, a photograph may be licensed yet still disclose sensitive information without consent, or a restored document may still be false milestone proof. We explain the relevant remaining basis where appropriate without disclosing protected information or providing a roadmap for evasion.
You may appeal by identifying the decision, the alleged error and any new or overlooked evidence. We review appeals on their merits and may uphold, narrow or reverse a restriction; duplicate messages do not create priority. We cannot compel a claimant to grant a licence, decide damages or enforce a private settlement beyond measures available through the platform.
If ownership depends on a complex contract or contested legal history, the parties may need to resolve it through independent advice or a competent authority. Send relevant orders or settlement instructions to hello@coheroapp.com, identifying their scope and authenticity. We assess what they require or permit and may seek clarification before changing access, especially if other users’ rights or safety are affected.
11. Repeat infringement and account enforcement
We maintain a policy of restricting or terminating accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances, consistent with applicable law. Repeated substantiated complaints, deliberate copying, re-uploading removed material and attempts to evade enforcement may indicate that account-level action is warranted. We consider the quality and outcome of complaints rather than treating every allegation as a proven violation.
Available measures include requesting correction, removing individual items, limiting publication or communication features, suspending an account or terminating access. Serious or clearly deliberate infringement can justify strong action without a sequence of prior warnings. Where proportionate, we may permit a correction or explanation before imposing further restrictions, but no warning schedule is guaranteed.
Withdrawn claims, successful appeals, valid counter-notices and demonstrated mistakes can affect our assessment of an account’s history. We also consider whether apparently separate complaints concern the same incident or are part of a coordinated campaign. The policy is not a mechanical system in which an arbitrary number of emails automatically produces termination.
Do not create replacement accounts, use another person’s identity or ask collaborators to repost restricted material to bypass a decision. One person may maintain only one account, and real identity and non-impersonation requirements continue to apply. If you believe an enforcement history contains errors, identify the specific decisions and evidence through the appeal process instead of trying to conceal the history.
12. Misuse of the notice process
Submit notices and counter-notices honestly, after reasonable consideration of the facts and the rights asserted. Do not forge licences, invent ownership, impersonate a representative or knowingly misidentify the material complained of. A disagreement about a dream’s progress, a critical comment or a personal dispute does not create a copyright claim.
We may reject or seek clarification of notices that are abusive, misleading, materially incomplete or unrelated to intellectual property. Repeated misuse can lead to account restrictions or other proportionate measures, and knowingly false statements may expose the sender to liability under applicable law. We do not use this policy to prevent valid good-faith complaints or penalise a person merely because a difficult claim is ultimately unsuccessful.
Do not threaten a notice to obtain money, personal contact, favourable treatment or removal of lawful criticism. Similarly, do not threaten a claimant for exercising legitimate rights or publish their private contact details from a complaint. Report coercion, harassment or retaliation separately so we can assess the safety issues alongside the underlying rights dispute.
If you discover a mistake in your notice or counter-notice, contact hello@coheroapp.com promptly with the original reference and the correction or withdrawal. Explain which items are affected and whether the mistake changes your request. Withdrawal informs our assessment but does not require us to ignore an independent legal obligation, a separate violation or evidence of deliberate abuse.
13. Milestone proof and images of other people
Milestone proof must be authentic, relevant and submitted with the rights needed for its use. Do not use another person’s receipts, certificates, designs or progress photos to imply that you completed a stage yourself. A permitted illustrative image must not be passed off as proof of an event that did not occur; explain its limited purpose clearly.
Before uploading a recognisable person’s image, voice, private story or sensitive information, obtain any consent or other lawful basis required for that use. Explain the intended audience and context so the person understands that the material will be used on a dream or as proof to Backers. Consent to taking a photo is not necessarily consent to publishing it in a request for money.
Take particular care with children and people in vulnerable circumstances, even though platform users themselves must be at least 18. Obtain any required permission from an appropriate parent, guardian or other authorised person, and avoid disclosing identifying or sensitive details unnecessarily. Do not assume that family relationships or a charitable motive remove obligations to protect the subject’s privacy and dignity.
Redact account numbers, addresses, identification numbers, unrelated medical information and details of bystanders where they are not needed to demonstrate the milestone. Check document metadata and backgrounds as well as the main subject before uploading. Private storage and expiring or signed links reduce unrestricted access but do not prevent an authorised viewer from copying or capturing what is shown.
If a person objects to use of their image or private information, tell us the relevant material and the basis for the concern. A privacy or consent issue may be actionable even when the complainant does not own copyright in the photograph. We may ask for clarification and consider restriction under the Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines or Trust & Safety rather than force every concern into a copyright notice.
14. AI-generated and altered content
If you use AI-generated or materially AI-altered content in a dream, update or proof submission, disclose that use clearly where users would otherwise reasonably understand the material to be an original photograph, human-created work or direct record of progress. Explain what was generated or altered and what it represents. A vague statement elsewhere in a profile may not adequately explain a realistic synthetic image used as milestone evidence.
Generated images, synthetic voices and altered documents must not impersonate real people, manufacture endorsements or suggest that an event occurred when it did not. Do not create a fictitious beneficiary, fabricate a completed milestone or generate a certificate to obtain backings or claim milestone completion. Labelling material as generated does not excuse an otherwise misleading account of the dream or its progress.
You remain responsible for rights, permissions and accuracy even when a tool produced the output. Check for copied protected material, confusing marks, realistic depictions of people and restrictions in the terms governing the tool or source material. We do not guarantee that generated output is eligible for copyright protection, free from third-party claims or owned exclusively by the person who prompted it.
Distinguish ordinary technical adjustments from changes that alter the meaning or evidentiary value of a submission. Cropping a document to remove private data should not conceal a material qualification, and improving brightness should not be used to hide defects relevant to the milestone. When the authenticity or origin of proof is questioned, explain the editing process and provide suitable underlying evidence without exposing unnecessary personal information.
15. Records, contact and policy changes
Send notices, counter-notices, withdrawals, appeals and related questions to hello@coheroapp.com. Identify the type of request and include the relevant dream, account, message or decision reference so we can direct it appropriately. Keep your own copy of the submission and any licence or authority on which you rely, and tell us if your contact details change while a dispute is pending.
We handle personal information in complaints under the Privacy Policy and disclose it only for legitimate review, procedural, safety or legal purposes. Complaint materials may need to be shared with an affected party or competent authority, and confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. Limit submissions to relevant information and tell us about a concrete safety concern before sending unusually sensitive documents.
We record reports and relevant account events for security, fraud prevention and support on our own servers, including applicable IP address and device or browser information. You can request a copy of your account history, subject to protections for other people and legitimate legal limitations. Account deletion follows the 30-day grace period described in the Privacy Policy; required records are retained only in a form that no longer identifies the person and as required by law.
We may update this policy to reflect legal requirements, platform features or changes in the complaint process. Material changes are notified in the app or by email in advance, and continued use constitutes acceptance as described in the Terms of Service. The English version prevails if translations conflict, while mandatory consumer protections and other non-waivable rights remain preserved.
