Why back a language study dream in Seattle?

Backing is one of the most direct ways to help someone reach a goal. Your money goes to one person with one plan, and you can follow every step of the language study dream until it is done.

Language school funding blends course fees with the practical cost of attending regularly. Plan around teaching blocks, learning materials and accommodation, with progress shown through classwork.

  1. 01

    Direct impact

No fund in between. You choose the dream, see the milestones and watch the proof arrive. A small backing can complete a milestone when several Backers join in.

  2. 02

    Transparent by design

Every dream shows its goal, milestones and progress. Dreams are reviewed before they go live, and money moves only when proof is posted.

  3. 03

    A relationship, not a transaction

Chat with the Dreamer and follow updates. Many Backers return because they enjoy watching a plan become something real, knowing they helped.

How Backers are protected

14-day review per milestone

When proof is posted, each Backer has 14 days to release their share or ask for more. Money not released in time goes back to the Backer.

15% fee, deducted — never added

Backers pay exactly what they choose. The 15% fee comes out of each backing: $100 gives the Dreamer $85. The fee is kept if money is returned.

Gifts, not shares

Backings are gifts. No shares, equity, interest or repayment, and Dreamers keep full ownership. Nothing on cohero is an investment or a loan.

Example milestone plan

An example plan for a language study dream with a goal of $7,000. Backers fund the whole goal, but each milestone's money stays held until you post the proof and Backers release it.

  1. Milestone 1

    $2,100 · 30%

    Book the opening block

Post the school booking receipt, the first course payment and a dated plan for accommodation during the opening block.

  2. Milestone 2

    $2,100 · 30%

    Attend the core block

Share the next course invoice, an attendance summary and an original writing or speaking sample from this class block.

  3. Milestone 3

    $1,750 · 25%

    Extend classroom practice

Upload receipts for the next teaching block and accommodation, plus a short learning update based on completed classwork.

  4. Milestone 4

    $1,050 · 15%

    Finish and review learning

Post remaining course receipts, a final attendance record and a self-recorded language sample comparing your learning goals.

Risks to plan for

  • R1

    Class level needs adjustment

An initial placement may put you in a class that does not fit your skills. Ask about level changes before booking and allow the opening milestone to document the confirmed class.

  • R2

    Accommodation costs drift

Accommodation dates may not line up with teaching weeks. Budget for the actual stay, not only classroom days, and match housing receipts to the learning blocks they support.

  • R3

    Fluency is hard to define

A promise of fluency can make progress difficult to assess fairly. Use attendance and comparable language samples as proof, with specific learning aims for each teaching block.

Questions and answers

Do Backers get anything in return?

Backings are gifts, so there are no shares, interest or repayment. You get a clear view of the progress you made possible and a direct line to the Dreamer.

Can accommodation be part of a language school goal?

Yes, if it is needed to attend the course. State the length of stay and separate accommodation from tuition so Backers can follow the budget. Share payment records with addresses and other personal information hidden.

What if my language level improves more slowly than expected?

Show the lessons attended and the work completed rather than claiming a guaranteed level. Use similar speaking or writing tasks at different stages, and explain any changes to your learning plan in the milestone update.
