Example milestone plan
An example plan for a nursing school dream with a goal of $16,000. Backers fund the whole goal, but each milestone's money stays held until you post the proof and Backers release it.
Milestone 1
$3,200 · 20%
Secure the first term
Post an enrolment confirmation, the first tuition receipt and a dated breakdown of required nursing course supplies.
Milestone 2
$4,800 · 30%
Begin clinical training
Share paid course invoices, a placement schedule with identifying details hidden and receipts for clinical supplies.
Milestone 3
$4,800 · 30%
Continue supervised practice
Upload the next tuition receipt, a redacted attendance summary and travel records for the funded placement period.
Milestone 4
$3,200 · 20%
Complete the final term
Post final-term payment records, receipts for remaining required materials and a course completion update.
- 01
Make every step provable
A milestone only works if a Backer can look at your proof and agree it is done. 'Buy equipment' is weak; 'equipment bought, receipt and photo posted' is strong.
- 02
Order by risk
Put the cheapest, fastest step first. Each released milestone proves you deliver and funds the next. Leave the biggest amount for the step where most of the work is already done.
- 03
Keep the amounts honest
Milestones must add up exactly to your goal. Price each step from real quotes, include tools and services, and split any step that is too big to prove in one go.
Risks to plan for
- R1
Placement dates can move
Clinical placement dates or locations may change during the course. Separate placement costs by term and allow room in the travel budget for a revised route or schedule.
- R2
Required supplies vary
A placement may require different uniforms or equipment from classroom study. Confirm supply lists before purchase and attach the relevant list to each materials milestone.
- R3
Study reduces paid hours
Classes and clinical shifts can reduce time available for paid work. Map essential living costs to each training block rather than assuming the same work schedule all year.

How Backers are protected
14-day review per milestone
When proof is posted, each Backer has 14 days to release their share or ask for more. Money not released in time goes back to the Backer.
15% fee, deducted — never added
Backers pay exactly what they choose. The 15% fee comes out of each backing: $100 gives the Dreamer $85. The fee is kept if money is returned.
Gifts, not shares
Backings are gifts. No shares, equity, interest or repayment, and Dreamers keep full ownership. Nothing on cohero is an investment or a loan.
Questions and answers
How many milestones should a nursing school dream have?
Three to six works for most dreams. Fewer gives Backers little to review; more than seven makes each step feel small. The example plan on this page uses four.
Can my goal include travel to clinical placements?
Yes. Explain which placement journeys the goal covers and show how you estimated them. Use travel receipts or a redacted journey log as proof, without exposing patient information or confidential placement records.
What proof can I share without revealing patient details?
Use tuition receipts, required supply invoices and course attendance records with personal details hidden. Never post patient notes or clinical images; Backers need evidence of the funded step, not access to patient care.
