How Backers are protected
14-day review per milestone
When proof is posted, each Backer has 14 days to release their share or ask for more. Money not released in time goes back to the Backer.
15% fee, deducted — never added
Backers pay exactly what they choose. The 15% fee comes out of each backing: $100 gives the Dreamer $85. The fee is kept if money is returned.
Gifts, not shares
Backings are gifts. No shares, equity, interest or repayment, and Dreamers keep full ownership. Nothing on cohero is an investment or a loan.
- 01
Before you back
Read the story and the milestones. Check that the amounts add up and that each step has something concrete to prove. If anything is unclear, ask in chat first.
- 02
While the dream runs
Your backing is split across the milestones. When proof is posted you are notified and can release your share or ask for more. You can back anonymously.
- 03
If something goes wrong
If you do not release a milestone in time, the money still held for it and later steps comes back to you, minus the fee. You can report a dream or block a user at any time.
Example milestone plan
An example plan for a esports team dream with a goal of $15,000. Backers fund the whole goal, but each milestone's money stays held until you post the proof and Backers release it.
Milestone 1
$4,500 · 30%
Build core player setups
Post itemised hardware receipts, setup photos and a compatibility checklist, hiding account details and device serial numbers.
Milestone 2
$3,750 · 25%
Establish team practice
Share an anonymised practice schedule, coaching records and connectivity test summaries without revealing private player accounts.
Milestone 3
$3,750 · 25%
Prepare tournament attendance
Post entry confirmations, travel plans if needed and a roster readiness checklist with player consent and private data hidden.
Milestone 4
$3,000 · 20%
Document competitive campaign
Share match records, published results where available and a team review explaining equipment use and future practice priorities.
Risks to plan for
- R1
Hardware mismatch
Different player setups can create performance or compatibility problems. Test the intended configuration before bulk purchases and include replacement peripherals within the hardware budget.
- R2
Roster changes
A player leaving can disrupt practice and event eligibility. Set a roster confirmation checkpoint before entries and keep travel commitments tied to the confirmed competition lineup.
- R3
Connection instability
Unreliable connections can undermine remote practice and online matches. Include network testing in the practice milestone and budget for a suitable shared venue where the plan requires one.
Questions and answers
Can a remote team raise funds without a gaming house?
Explain where players practise and what shared costs actually exist. Individual setup evidence, a coordinated practice schedule and connection checks can demonstrate readiness without presenting a dedicated team house as necessary.
Do Backers receive a share of tournament winnings?
No. Backings are gifts, with no shares, equity, interest or repayment. Explain tournament participation as the team’s funded activity and use match records as proof, not an offer to distribute any future prize money.
Can I see how my money was used?
Yes. Each milestone shows the Dreamer's proof, how much is held and how much is released. You only release money for milestones you have reviewed yourself.
